Bio


A performer of Musical Theatre, Opera, and all things Barbra Streisand, Trish Causey is a multifaceted voice artist, writer, and composer. She has performed feature roles in theatre, opera, oratorio, dinner theatre, and competitions in the United States and South Korea. She currently produces two radio shows and will release her vocal training CD in December 2011.


Composer/Producer, "Trish Causey's Vocals 1.0:  26 Vocal Exercises for Trained & Experienced Singers"

Host/Producer, “Musical Theatre Talk with Trish Causey,” online radio show featuring Broadway stars, creative teams, and top vocal coaches;  "The Activists' Voice with Trish Causey," online radio show focusing on modern activism and human rights needs in the 21st century.

Guide for Theatre, About.com, a New York Times Company, covering Broadway and national tours, with daily blogs, articles, and reviews of productions and cast albums.

Private teacher and workshop presenter, instruct individuals, groups, and middle and high schools on a variety of topics including voice technique, vocal health, scene study, audition prep, and make-up; also vocal coach for clients entering competitions, pageants, and college auditions.

Writer/composer & Freelance writer, creator of musical stage works as well as having written for About.com, TheatreFace.com, Stage Directions Magazine, and BroadwaySpace.com.

Certified in Pilates and Yoga, National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA, April 2005), taught 7 - 8 group classes per week in Water Aerobics and Pilates/Yoga; use Pilates and yoga in voice lessons.

workshops:

  • VOX: Vocal Objectives & 'Xercises – a multi-part workshop focusing on functional voice training and vocal health for performance and longevity.

  • Auditioning for College – a workshop just for high schoolers to show them how to choose which schools to apply to, choose audition rep., handle the actual audition, plus the in-person college interview(s).

  • Make-Up 101, 201, & 301 – three different workshops on make-up techniques for the stage. 101 – the 4 basic make-up styles; 201 – work with latex and make appliances; 301 – head/mask casting and painting.

  • Song Interpretation – a workshop on making the words on the page come to life using imagery and emotional connectedness and utilizing vocal and breathing techniques.

theatrical & voice works:

  • Witchcraze – 2-act musical set during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692; Book, Music, & Lyrics by Trish Causey

  • Two Hearts – 1-act opera dealing with LGBT issues; Libretto & Score by Trish Causey; will have a workshop reading by the Metropolis Opera Project in NYC (July 2011).

  • Herstory – 1-act musical for children, highlighting women who affected history but not necessarily the history books.

  • Voices on the Wind – full-length screenplay

Over the years, I have performed in numerous productions in theatre, opera, and even dinner theatre. Though I do more teaching than performing now, I can dig up those old credits as well.
